The idea of celebrating Father’s Day to honor our hard-working and tender dads was born in Washington State in 1910. The woman called Sonora Smart Dodd who had been raised by her father thought it was a great idea to let all fathers of the world know how special they are.

After many years had passed, in 1972, President Richard Nixon established a national observance of Father’s Day and it was decided to hold the holiday on the third Sunday of June.
